Teen Court of Sarasota, Inc. provides students ages 8-18 with educational youth development activities that are designed to meet the specific needs of at-risk youth and student volunteers. In an attempt to make the community safer by reducing juvenile delinquency, all youthful participants become engaged in activities tailored to confront the many challenges facing youth in Sarasota County.
The philosophical framework of their services is to offer educational classes and intervention services that unquestionably transform the lives of young people. By providing young people with ways they can make positive change in both their community and in their own lives, they become active participants in finding solutions for problems that impact their community.
Their mission is to introduce area youth to activities and services that promote feelings of self-esteem and self-improvement when they develop a healthy attitude toward authority. All organizational activities instill and teach the benefits of law abiding citizenship and civic engagement.
Exciting News!
The Board of Directors of the Lee and Bob Peterson Foundation/Sunshine from Darkness has chosen Teen Court and Harvest House to be the recipient of a portion of the proceeds of the 2023 Inspiring Hope Dinner. They will be designating the funds presented from the event to the mental health needs of the youth they serve.
The dinner will take place on the evening of Friday, January 13, 2023 at the Ritz Carlton. More details to come. Please sign up to receive news from Teen Court on how to purchase tickets for this event.
Sunshine from Darkness is a nonprofit, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to raising funds for mental health research and local charities that provide mental health and addiction disorder services in the Sarasota community.
The mission of Sunshine from Darkness is to raise awareness of mental health and addiction disorders and erase the stigma of both.
Teen Court offers one on one and group mental health counseling to those at-risk youth who are referred to us from the Sarasota middle schools, high schools and our local law enforcement agencies.
We are a non-profit organization that focuses on giving youth in our community a second chance opportunity to make meaningful changes in their lives.
