What an honor it is to be back with All Faiths Food Bank to present them with another check to help those that are in need. To think our first check was presented to them at the end of summer in 2020 when so many were in need during the COVID Pandemic there is always so much more work to be done.
As a reminder of this organization’s great work, All Faiths Food Bank is the only food bank and largest hunger relief organization in Sarasota and DeSoto counties. Rated 4-stars by Charity Navigator and a member of Feeding America and Feeding Florida, All Faiths provides millions of meals each year through robust programs and partnerships with charitable organizations in the community. In addition to food distribution, All Faiths Food Bank operates a roster of innovative direct service programs that not only solve the immediate problem of hunger but strive to end hunger by helping families and individuals gain long-term food security, better health outcomes, and self-sufficiency.
All Faiths Campaign Against Summer Hunger returns for its 9th year from April 1-May 15. Since the start of the campaign in 2014, they have known that when school ends, hunger begins for more than 40,000 children. And now, as the cost of living surges in the face of growing inflation, so many families are working harder than ever to make ends meet.
Many Sarasota and DeSoto County students rely on free and reduced meals at school. The summer months can be especially difficult for the children of families struggling to put food on the table.
Hunger deprives children of more than just food.
Child hunger = learning delays, psychological distress and behavioral problems that can impact a child’s growth and development long into the future. Growing children need access to good nutrition to develop properly, avoid illness and focus in the classroom.
Your gift during this campaign is critical to help provide the nutritious food boys and girls need to learn, grow, and thrive. You can help us keep them full until fall.
All Faiths Food Bank’s Campaign Against Summer Hunger has become our community’s strongest line of defense against child hunger. Through our partners and summer programs, we work hard to make sure children receive the help they need.
